Grant the Handy Man

The last time we moved we had Grant help us put together his crib and set up our bed. Grant thought he was in charge, and would grab the screwdriver and work on one end of the crib screwing in the bolts. Ever since then, he has been obsessed with tools. He either wants a screwdriver, which he calls "scwew," or the car keys all the time as he goes around the house finding all the bolts and screws in the furniture and doors and then proceeds to "fix" everything for us.

The other night, Grant was playing with his bus. Like a lot of toys, it's musical, and it started to get on our nerves. Adam got a screwdriver out and took out the batteries, and Grant of course got way into that. He then proceeded to fix his bus. He was pretty serious about it!

Thanksgiving

This year for Thanksgiving we went to the Child Family Reunion. It's like the 85th annual Child Family Thanksgiving party. We hold it at a church, and this year there were about 80 people there. It was started by my grandparents, Roy and Ellen Child, and now, even after they have passed away, their children and grandchildren keep the tradition going. It was fun to see my aunts, uncles, cousins, and my immediate family as well. Adam played flag football, Grant ran around chasing cousins, and I tried playing a little three on three basketball with my brothers and niece and nephews, but I'm sad to say that I've lost my game. It was a fun day!

Halloween

We finally now have the internet at home again, so hopefully I'll be updating this more often. Grant was a cute little cowboy for Halloween. We took him to a Trunk or Treat, and he wasn't too sure about it. He got one piece of candy, and that was enough for him. Adam and I, of course, wanted him to keep going so that we could "share" his candy with him. Afterwards though, we went trick or treating with his cousins to a few houses and he got into it them.

Grandpa's Trucks

Grant is 16 months old now, but he thinks he's 16. He's always ready to drive. That's one great thing about his grandpa being a car dealer, there's always big trucks and new cars to drive.

Photos of Grant

We took Grant to the corn maze in Syracuse. He had a ton of fun going down the hay slides, riding the train behind the tractor and playing in the corn. As you can see, he's also learning how to pose for the camera and say "cheese."

First Posting

So, I think we may be the last young couple on earth to start a blog. I always enjoy looking at my friends blogs, so I thought it was time to start one of our own.

Things are going really well for us right now. Adam is really enjoying his job at United Mergers and Acquisitions, and we are just thrilled that he has found something that he enjoys and that will help him learn the things he wants to learn. He just found out that he gets to go to Amsterdam next week- how exciting!

Grant is doing great. He's starting to talk more and more each day. Some new words are cheese, keys, Zeke (grandpa's horse), and grandma and grandpa. Sometimes you have to use your imagination with the last two. He just started day care on Monday and has adjusted better than we could have asked for. His teacher said that he did "amazing" on his first day. He cried the first day when it was time to go because he wanted to keep playing in the little village they have with toys. He seems to think he is pretty big stuff for going to "school" every day.

I am doing well, just working at the U. We're still looking for a place in Salt Lake, but hopefully we'll find that soon and can get a little more settled. We're really grateful that our parents have been helping us out so much during this crazy time of transition. What would we do without families?
